Both are blonde. Both are luminous. They are not the same thing, and choosing between them is one of the most important conversations a colorist will ever have with a new client.
Platinum
Platinum is a statement. It is a single, very high value across the entire head - pure light, no dimension, no shadow. It demands double-process work, regular root touch-ups (every four to six weeks), and a maintenance schedule that respects the integrity of the hair. Done well, it is striking. Done badly, it is brittle.
Luminous Blonde
Luminous Blonde is the opposite philosophy. It is composed in transparent layers - cool, warm, and neutral set against one another until the eye reads only clarity. It is hand-painted, which means it grows out softly. It can be lived in. It is, by design, more forgiving than platinum, and considerably more flattering on most skin tones.
Which is yours?
If you want the statement, the editorial moment, and you accept the maintenance - platinum. If you want hair that looks luminous in natural light, grows out beautifully, and signals "considered" rather than "loud" - Luminous Blonde. Most of the women in Samina's chair choose the latter. It is, in the most accurate sense of the word, expensive blonde.
